Third Grade is a transitional year for students as they move from learning how to read to reading to understand. Students begin to build upon skills and start to increase their stamina for reading and writing longer texts and passages. They are able to think more deeply about what they are reading and they generate questions as they read. Their comprehension has deepened and they are able to make inferences as they read. They are solving multi step mathematical problems and learning about fractions. Students are beginning to build upon their wonder and curiosity as they learn more about Science and Social Studies. This is a time where students ask questions that allow them to dig deeper into phenomenon and make connections to make sense of the world. They will often relate what they read and learn to the real world or other texts and even movies.
